Jumuah #17

Assalam alaikoum wa Rahmatullaah wa Barakaatuh,

This is by far one of my favorite lectures by Bro Nouman Ali Khan. The story of Prophet Ibrahim Alayhi Salam is an inspiration to me and this is the reason I chose this kunyah ‘Umm Khaleel’ πŸ™‚

p/s/ on a sidenote, I’m a graduate! Al-Hamdulillah! πŸ˜€

  1. WooHOoooo!! You’re gonna graduate!! Mabroooook πŸ™‚ Now watch out…You’re going to start getting the

    a) did you get a job, yet?
    b) did you get engaged? any plans for marriage?

    questions a lot….

But in the meantime, relax and enjoy yourself πŸ˜€ Hehe!

I also love that lecture πŸ™‚

    • Al-Hamdulillah yeaaahh! :)) Really excited! And it’s coming up btw πŸ˜€

As for your questions, I’ll answer them in my next post insha’Allah. About time this blog gets an update!

  2. I just finished watching this lecture and can I say again just how much I love Nouman Ali Khan lectures? πŸ™‚

I think it’s because he speaks our “language”! πŸ˜› Masha Allah he’s very articulate and the frankness and the expressions he uses really resonates with me! He makes it real and easy to connect with my Deen. I especially love his lectures on the linguistic marvel of the Quran. I honestly become awestruck! πŸ™‚

The situations he expressed in this lecture are so true nowadays isn’t it? Teenagers are so averse and apathetic towards religion. For them, what’s normal is what’s coming from the West and it really saddens me. When did the USA become the definition for right and wrong, morals and values?

The whole “freedom rights” concept has really screwed us up. Everyone should be free to do whatever they want, be whatever they want, it’s their right. With such a tantalizing lure before them, isn’t it no wonder that they don’t want to be bound by the strings of a “backwards” religion they find ridiculous? I honestly despair of it! 😦

    • Nouman Ali Khan does contemporary tafseer which is why I think most of the youth can relate well to him. I love his lectures too sis! You should listen to his other tafseer lectures and they are so amazing masha’Allah! When he discusses a suraah, he would pick some Arabic words that had different meaning and then explain why Allah has chosen that particular meaning since Arabic can have many meanings to it – both negative and positive connotations. You should also check another lecture (which is my favourite I think since I watched it more than twice) about Prophet Musa alayhi salam.. Insha’Allah will post the video up soon! πŸ™‚

I do wonder how he can give a lecture non stop without looking at his notes. Must be that he memorised everything or that he loves it so much that it’s all in his head.. so jealous you know. I hope to learn Arabic and be able to commit everything into memory so that each time I listen to a recitation, everything just unravels in front of me.

The ‘freedom of rights’ has its good and bad too sis.. imagine if we don’t have rights – practicing Islam would be difficult. But then again, I feel like it’s only limited to the non-Muslims since the Kufaar are already trying to control what we can or cannot wear now -.-

I think the main reason for the kind of youth we see nowadays is due to the music they listen to. I’m not sure if you had seen this conspiracy theory documentary about how they control us through music. The belief that ‘thou shall do what thou wilt’ was created by a satanist Aleister Crowley which basically encourages people to ‘do whatever they feel like doing’.. that phrase is being repeated in so many pop songs that teenagers listen to nowadays. So how is it possible to have religion in their lives when it contradicts them from living ‘however they feel like’.. ok, I hope the explanation isn’t off tangent πŸ™‚
