Assalam alaikoum wa Rahmatullaah wa Barakaatuh,
“No! When the soul has reached the collar bones. And it is said, “Who will cure [him]?” And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation” [75:26-28]
The past weeks I’ve heard news of people passing away, of which 2 of them were young. One of them was a sister who suddenly fell into a coma and died couple of days later, leaving two young sons behind. She was my close friend’s friend and from descriptions by those who knew her, I gathered that she was a wonderful sister. I was moved to tears when I heard of her death even though I have never met her. Time and time again, we need reminders that death does not discriminate. It doesn’t matter if you are young, healthy or at the ‘prime of your life’, you are not excluded from the possibility of death coming to you now. How arrogant are we to think that we still have years ahead of us when only Allah aza’ wa jal knows when our time is up!
These ayaats send such a strong message across – When death is at our throat, we ask for more time in this Dunya. But when time is given to us, we use it wastefully. Astarghfirullah.
